”Flamenco is a perfect union of dance and music. That´s why one also has to study music and singing. Footwork can be compared to playing percussions and it´s not just rhythmic but also musical. It´s necessary to train different techniques and when one has learnt them thoroughly, one has to let go. In flamenco everybody is basically free to express oneself. Faking won´t make anybody a better dancer.”
Since 2000 Kaari Martin has taught flamenco in the various European dance schools and festival workshops. She is specialised in teaching musicians, actors and other professional performers, but she also holds workshops for dance students.
For experienced students and professionals-to-be Martin has a group called Rääkkiryhmä. The admission is based on an entrance examination.
